There is a tradition in Korea where people eat various nuts on the day when the first full moon of the year appears for good luck. Have a mouthful of Yeoju peanuts and make your wish for this year.
Yeoju has always been Korea’s largest producer of peanuts as they require sandy soil. Yeoju expanded its cultivation of peanuts due to their resistance to droughts. However, peanut farms are decreasing steadily due to foreign peanut producers who exercise extensive agriculture based on low-cost labor.
Despite such difficulties, Yeoju’s peanuts are considerably more resistant to harmful insects and germs, which allow the farmers of Yeoju to cultivate them using almost no pesticide. Also, Yeoju peanuts are keeping the top place in the market and the product’s top-notch taste.
