Introduction
Yeongwollu Pavilion provides a bird’s eye view over the beautiful sceneries of the blue branches of the Namhangang River, Yangseom, and the beautiful landscape of Silleuksa Temple across the river. The letters, “Ma Am(馬巖)” have been clearly marked on the rugged precipice below the pavilion.
Ma Am
Legends say yellow and black dragons emerged from water below the Ma Am Rock during King Gyeongdeok’s reign in the Silla dynasty. The king changed the town’s name to Hwangryeo-hyeon after their appearance.
